Responsibilities

Receiving, Stocking & Merchandising: Receive products from back store/receiving area; verify quantities, conditions, and codes before shelving. Replenish shelves promptly; follow FIFO/FEFO (FEFO mandatory for pharmacy and perishables). Merchandise to planograms; maintain faced-up, organized displays. Flag low stock, damages, and near-expiry items; initiate pull‑outs and transfers as instructed. Pricing, Labeling & Barcoding: Ensure all items have correct price tags/barcodes; replace missing/incorrect labels immediately. Apply promo/markdown labels accurately; remove expired promo tags. Report price discrepancies to the supervisor for correction. Expiry Management & Product Integrity: Conduct daily/weekly expiry checks and record findings. Execute FEFO strictly (pharmacy: mandatory; cold chain items as applicable). Isolate expired/compromised products; follow SOPs for quarantine and documentation. Housekeeping, Hygiene & Safety: Keep shelves, aisles, and surrounding areas clean and unobstructed. Comply with food safety and pharmacy hygiene protocols; no cross‑contamination. Adhere to HSE rules: proper lifting, spill management, hazard reporting, emergency procedures. Customer Assistance & Service: Greet and assist customers; guide to products and promotions. Escalate technical queries to pharmacists/supervisors (pharmacy: do not provide clinical advice). Support queue management, gift wrapping, basket/cart retrieval as required. Inventory Control & Shrink Reduction: Participate in cycle counts and stocktakes; ensure accurate counting and reconciliation. Minimize shrink by vigilant shelf monitoring, damage handling, and adherence to SOPs. Report suspicious activity; follow security protocols. Documentation, Systems & Compliance: Complete checklists (opening/closing, expiry, cleaning, replenishment). Use POS/stock systems (as trained) for price checks/labels; maintain records. Comply with internal policies and regulatory standards (NAFDAC, PCN—pharmacy). Cross‑Functional Support: Liaise with Receiving, Pharmacy, Bakery/Restaurant, and Inventory teams for timely restocking. Assist during promotions, new planogram rollouts, and seasonal peaks.
