Senior Mechanical Engineer - BUA Cement Plc - Onsite

Overview

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment including crushers, mills, kilns, conveyors, pumps, and compressors to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs designed to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor a team of skilled mechanical technicians and engineers, fostering professional growth and expertise.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies to promote a safe working environment.
• Analyze equipment performance data and recommend engineering improvements for increased reliability and efficiency.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement for timely availability of essential components.
• Participate in plant shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance projects to uphold operational standards.
• Collaborate with production, electrical, and process teams to optimize overall plant performance and efficiency.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, maintenance schedules, and capital expenditure proposals to support management decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction strategies in maintenance operations to enhance productivity and sustainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree is a plus)
• Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance within a cement plant, mining, or heavy process industry
• Strong knowledge of both rotating and static equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding/fabrication techniques
• Demonstrated experience in leading maintenance teams and managing plant shutdowns
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in maintenance management software (e.g., SAP PM or similar platforms)
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work in a plant environment and be available for emergency call-outs as required
• Preferred Skills
• Experience with modern cement manufacturing equipment (e.g., vertical roller mills, rotary kilns)
• Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and condition monitoring methodologies
• Professional certification (e.g., COREN registration) is a valuable asset
